In May 2023, we established Soor Mahatee Foundation in Pune with the vision of promoting and nurturing Indian classical music. The foundation is dedicated to creating deeper awareness and appreciation for classical singing by offering opportunities to study, experience, and enjoy music in its many forms. Our core mission is to provide meaningful music education through workshops, lectures, and performances that explore the connection between music and other enriching subjects such as spirituality, the environment, and yoga.
The foundation was officially launched with a grand two-day musical festival—Soor Mahatee Mahotsav—held on September 2nd and 3rd, 2023, in Pune.
This special event was organized to celebrate the birth centenary of the legendary vocalist and revered guru, Dr. Veena Sahasrabuddhe. The festival featured soulful performances by renowned Indian classical artists such as Atul Khandekar, Sawani Shende Sathaye, Raghunandan Panshikar, Bhuvanesh Komkali, and Kalapini Komkali, making it a truly memorable beginning for our musical journey.
As part of the festival, Soor Mahatee Foundation also released a special documentary titled “Veenecha Chiranjiv Jhankaar”, capturing the remarkable musical journey of the legendary vocalist Vidushi Veena Sahasrabuddhe. This documentary is now permanently available for everyone to watch on the foundation’s official YouTube channel, making it easily accessible to music lovers and students of Indian classical music worldwide. The foundation and the cultural music event were formally inaugurated by the revered Paramahamsa Parivrajakacharya Shri Narasinha Ashram Swami Maharaj, whose blessings marked an auspicious beginning to our mission of spreading the essence of Hindustani classical music.
In addition to the grand musical celebration, Soor Mahatee Foundation has curated several smaller yet meaningful musical sessions. One such program was “Saam Sangeet”, designed to introduce audiences to the rich tradition of Vedic music. Led by Vedic scholars Shri Raghav Ramdasi and Shri Pranav Gokhale, the session offered deep insights into the origins and structure of Vedic chanting and its connection with Indian classical music.
The program received a warm and enthusiastic response from the audience and is now available permanently on the foundation’s official YouTube channel for all those interested in exploring the spiritual roots of Indian music.
Soor Mahatee Foundation also hosted a special event titled “Tarana Rasaasvaadan”, dedicated to the appreciation of Tarana, a unique form in Hindustani classical vocal music. The program was beautifully presented by senior vocalist Smt. Anjali Malkar and her disciples. Through thoughtful narration and musical performance, the event explored the structure of Tarana and guided the audience on how to truly experience its aesthetic beauty. Another notable presentation by the foundation was “Gandharva Bhaktirang”, held on July 13, 2024, to mark the death anniversary of the legendary Bal Gandharva. Centered around devotional compositions from Bal Gandharva’s iconic musical plays, the event offered a
soulful glimpse into the spiritual essence of Marathi Sangeet Natak.
In August 2024, furthering its mission to preserve and promote Indian culture and tradition, Sur Mahati Foundation conducted a ritualistic Go-Daan ceremony (a traditional act of donating a cow) at Surabhi Seva Parivaar in Alandi. Additionally, the foundation has made the revered audio biography “Shri Shankar Geeta” available for all. This spiritual work, composed in verse by Bhagwant Aghor, narrates the life and teachings of Sant Rajadhiraj Yogiraj Sadguru Shri Shankar Maharaj of Pune. The complete audio version is now permanently accessible on Soor Mahatee Foundation’s official YouTube channel.
As a heartfelt contribution towards India’s spiritual heritage, Soor Mahatee Foundation offered a special audio recording to the daily Maha Aarti ceremony at the sacred Sarayu riverbank in Ayodhya, the birthplace of Lord Shri Ram. This devotional recording includes the Sarayu Ashtak, Aarti, and Ram Naam Jaap chants, created under the guidance of Mahant Shri Shashikant Das of Ayodhya and in collaboration with the Anjaneya Seva Sansthan.
Since June 22, 2024, the recording has been played every evening during the Maha Aarti at Sarayu Ghat, enriching the sacred atmosphere and inviting devotees to immerse themselves in the soulful rhythm of Ram Bhakti.
On January 22, 2024, the auspicious day of the Pran Pratishtha (consecration) of Shri Ram’s idol at the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, Sur Mahati Foundation organized a day-long Ram Naam Jaap in Pune, as a mark of devotion and spiritual unity. In alignment with its core mission of nurturing genuine learners, the foundation has also extended financial assistance to underprivileged students pursuing Indian classical music education, ensuring that passion for music is never limited by circumstance.
The joy that music has brought into our lives over the years is something we’ve always wished to share—not just on an individual level, but also with families and society at large. Through Soor Mahatee Foundation, it is our heartfelt desire to spread this joy further and deeper, with the support and participation of everyone who believes in the power of Indian classical music.
In today’s fast-paced and often chaotic world, we are committed to nurturing peace and calm through music—creating spaces where people can reconnect with themselves through sound, silence, and soulfulness.

In line with its vision to inspire and educate, the foundation organized a special program for aspiring music learners on February 14, 2025, titled “Sangeet Rangabhoomi ani Awaaz Sadhana” (Musical Theatre and Vocal Discipline). This unique event featured a thoughtful interaction between legendary musical theatre artist Nirmala Gogte and Shaila Mukund, offering rare insights into voice training and stage presence for students of music.
